Each day, the Geologist uses software to determine ore control based on blast hole survey and assay data. Maintain blasthole database integrity, provide month-end mine production reports, and monitor resource model vs. mined performance metrics.
Job Requirements:
They may be asked to do remedial investigations, remedial system designs, feasibility studies, remedial action plans, groundwater monitoring plans and reports, cost projections, and the preparation of technical publications.
It is essential that management be kept up-to-date on a daily basis, which is why these reports must be written and maintained. Management of inventory and transportation of samples are two examples of logistical responsibilities.
Strong computer skills, like knowing how to use Word, Excel, and database software. Knowing how to use ArcGIS and CAD is a plus. Familiarity with remedial systems and how they work. General construction and mechanical skills are a plus.
Examine geological and risk assessment papers for Solid Waste and Waste Cleanup submittals with District or applicable Division authorities, and assist in their evaluation. Analyze more site rehabilitation plans and paperwork for projects that your supervisors or managers have provided you.
Inform project management of difficulties, cost or time overruns, scope modifications, liability risk, etc.
To provide assistance to solid waste and water facilities permitting engineers and compliance staff, as well as to be responsible for permitting activities relating to water quality monitoring plans and evaluation of environmental sampling that is necessary for assigned solid waste facilities projects.
One of the most common things to do is to record soil boreholes and keep track of drilling and well installation. There will be tests on samples of soil and groundwater.
Create requests and documents that are technically accurate, clear, intelligible, and follow the existing rules, instructions, and processes if further information is needed.
Task and project management, client contact, proposal writing, cost estimation, remedial system design, monitoring implementation/construction, technical report writing, and coaching.
Drillers’ tasks include anything from setting up drilling equipment to communicating management objectives to drill crews and staying in touch with them so that they may keep management informed about mechanical issues, hole quality, and survey results.
